Nylon half ball is made to fit older Hobie and Prindle tiller end caps. They are used in the Murrays Tiller Connection Kit (#01-2061). Fits on a 1/4 bolt.

The Half ball is a bearing surface that joins the tiller end cap and the tiller connection nut/bolt. Used with both the 3052 and 11520005 tiller connector kits.
