This is the standard lower casting on Hobie 16 beachcats since 1983. There is an adjustable screw at the base of the casting to help adjust rudder rake and a slightly different casting shape than the earlier rudder castings. The spring length is also longer on these than pre '83 castings.

    RUDDER LOCKING KIT Hobie 16 Murrays Part# 50-10311900 Hobie factory rudder locking kit for Hobie 14 or 16 includes one each plunger, 2-1/2" spring (#50-10432000), and Delrin screw. Delrin screw is 3/4-10 thread. In many cases you can drill it out with a 5/8" drill bit and then get a 3/4-10 tap to clear the threads.
