Fiberglass battens are stronger and less expensive than foam battens, but also heavier. You trim the batten to the exact length needed (minimum 51-3/4"). Leech cap is included.

This 67" batten is the bottom (#1) batten on the Hobie® 16 jib; cut part way through from one side of batten, then turn over and finish cut to 57-7/8" for second from bottom. It can also be cut for H17/H17Sport #5 batten (51-3/4" for 1997/older Sport; 53" for newer sport/SE; lengths updated 2006). Wear gloves and mask when cutting fiberglass. Caps are included.

Battens are numbered starting with #1 at the bottom and counting up. Measurements shown are guidelines only, so be sure to measure your sail's batten pockets before cutting! When measuring sail for battens, add approximately 2" to length of batten pocket to allow for compression and batten ties. Wear gloves and mask when cutting fiberglass.
