    The Hobie 16 Aussie upper forestay runs parallel to the Aussie Forestay and is for the jib halyard line. The Jib Halyard line raises and jib and controls the mast rake. It runs from the top of the jib, thru the fiddle blocks and down the mast to the halyard cleat. The Aussie system provides a 4:1 pulley system to allow for easy mast rake adjustment on the fly and the independent forestay provides redundant a safety system if the jib luff wire or the jib halyard were to break. The main halyard comptip features a long rope section connected to a shorter wire section with a stopper and halyard shackle with a captured pin. The shackle connects to the head of the main sail and the stopper hooks into the main halyard hook and holds the sail up.   Comptip masts are stock on all Hobie 16s since 1986.
